is a holistic physician. She is trained in Internal Medicine, and is a Founding Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine. Throughout her journey Dr. Saltzman has been accompanied, and supported by an extraordinary transformational life coach, Ms. Georgina Lindsey. Ms. Lindsey’s exquisite combination of wisdom, grace, rigor and compassion has been of immeasurable benefit to Dr. Saltzman and those she serves. The coaching has been and continues to be a rigorous training that ongoingly opens the mind, and reveals the heart. Dr. Saltzman received her B.A., in Human Biology from Stanford University, and her M.D. from UC Irvine. Throughout her residency in Internal Medicine, and her year as Chief Resident at Kaiser Santa Clara, she focused on primary care for patients with complex illnesses. During this time Dr. Saltzman also served on the Board of the American Holistic Medical Association, and studied mindfulness meditation with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, medical acupuncture at UCLA, and nutritional and herbal medicine through the AHMA. She then worked as an internist at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation before being hired as the inaugural medical director of the Health and Healing Clinic, at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. A member of the Northern California Advisory Committee on Mindfulness (a practice that cultivates compassionate awareness), she has taught Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to a variety of interested individuals and groups- patients, physicians, elementary and junior high school students, parents, teachers, and corporate executives. In collaboration with Philippe Goldin Ph.D. of the Clinically Applied Affective Neurosciences Lab at the Stanford she is currently conducting research on the benefits of offering MBSR to elementary school children and to families. Previously she conducted research on the benefits of teaching MBSR to patients with chronic pain and chronic illness. Dr. Saltzman speaks to audiences at schools, parenting organizations, educational and medical conferences, and provides individual mindfulness instruction and holistic medical care to children and adults.
